What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture is widely considered to be beneficial for a range of conditions and symptoms, from clearly defined complaints to more general feelings of low energy and poor health. One of the key strengths of acupuncture is that its holistic nature focuses on treating the person not just their illness.
How does it work?
Acupuncture helps to maintain your body’s equilibrium. Treatment involves the application of ultra-fine sterile needles into specific points on the body to regulate the body’s vital energy or ‘Qi’ (pronounced chee). The underlying principle of treatment is that illness and pain occur when the body’s Qi, or energy, cannot flow freely. There can be many reasons for this in modern life; emotional and physical stress, poor nutrition, and infection or injury, are among the most common.
Who is it for?
Acupuncture can be used to treat a variety of health problems whether physical, emotional, or psychological and is a safe and effective practice. It can be used alone or alongside conventional medicine in the treatment of acute and long-term conditions.
Some people may choose to have acupuncture as a preventative measure to strengthen their constitution or because they feel unwell in themselves without a conventional diagnosis. A holistic approach means that treatment can help to resolve your health problems and enhance your feeling of wellbeing.
Heidi’s treatment is aimed at resolving the root cause of your condition, as well as your main symptoms. By treating the whole person the principle aim of acupuncture is to activate your body’s healing response to recover a healthy and natural balance.
“Each patient’s treatment plan is unique and I will do my best to make your experience a pleasant one, tailored to your needs. Most people find acupuncture extremely calming and leave the room either deeply relaxed or with renewed energy.”
